چکیده

Single-cell high-throughput transcriptomics is a powerful approach to investigate the heterogeneity of gene expression activities on cell level, which is otherwise hard to detect by bulk transcriptomics experiments. Many of the single-cell transcriptomics researches focus on the differentiation of various cell types and hope to find how the expression of genes and key regulatory factors changes over the differentiation process [1,2]. For individual cells during the differentiation process, each cell may experience quite varying schedule of transcriptional changes even though the overall trajectory of changes is highly identical. To depict such variation between individual cells, it is essential to reconstruct the differentiation lineage and order each single cell to the correct cellular states on the lineage. Several computational methods specifically tailored for single-cell experiments have been proposed to reconstruct the trend of cellular transitions during differentiation. For example, SPADE [3] uses an unsupervised spanning-tree progression approach to organize cells in a hierarchy of related phenotypes when applied

TSCAN: Pseudo-time reconstruction and evaluation in single-cell RNA-seq analysis

When analyzing single-cell RNA-seq data, constructing a pseudo-temporal path to order cells based on the gradual transition of their transcriptomes is a useful way to study gene expression dynamics in a heterogeneous cell population. Currently, a limited number of computational tools are available for this task, and quantitative methods for comparing different tools are lacking. Tools for Singl...

A Biomechanical Approach for the Study of Deformation of Red Cells in Narrow Capillaries

This model focuses on the behavior of capillary-tissue fluid exchange system when the diameter of the capillary is less than that of red cell. In vivo and in vitro observations indicate that the width of the gap between the red cell and the vessel wall is generally small compared to the radius of the capillary for a single file flow of red cell in narrow vessel, particularly if the vessel diame...

Analyzing dental occlusion for implants: Tekscan's TScan III.

Though no single, specific occlusal pattern has been developed that is ideal for oral implantology, research suggests some general criteria for deciding on a particular occlusal pattern that will help reduce cuspal interferences and lessen horizontal or lateral forces on the fixtures. Anticipated occlusal and chewing forces need to be taken under consideration for any implant-supported prosthes...

Comparative genomics of human stem cell factor (SCF)

Stem cell factor (SCF) is a critical protein with key roles in the cell such as hematopoiesis, gametogenesis and melanogenesis. In the present study a comparative analysis on nucleotide sequences of SCF was performed in Humanoids using bioinformatics tools including NCBI-BLAST, MEGA6, and JBrowse. Our analysis of nucleotide sequences to find closely evolved organisms with high similarity by NCB...

Three Dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

A full three-dimensional, single phase computational fluid dynamics model of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with both the gas distribution flow channels and the Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) has been developed. A single set of conservation equations which are valid for the flow channels, gas-diffusion electrodes, catalyst layers, and the membrane region are developed and numer...
